Anyone can recover from a life altering injury and change the world of the people around them in the process.
I recently had the chance to see the movie, Stronger. I tells the story of the man who lost both his legs in the Boston Marathon Bombing. Here is a man trying to woo back his ex-girlfriend by supporting her at the end of the marathon. That put him in the wrong place at the wrong time and he lost both his legs.
While dealing with the loss of his legs and trying to find a new normal he is all of a sudden thrust into the limelight as symbol of strength and resilience. Something that he wasn’t to himself.
The movie is about his journey from man to unplanned hero. It’s a reminder that while it may look glamours on the outside, its paved with daily struggles. The struggle isn’t what defines us, it’s what makes us stronger.
While this isn’t quite the theme I’m exploring in Blue Sky Morning, there are some parallels. The both delve into the topics of:
Unexpected injury
Depression
Mental recovery
I want to offer hope that even when things get bad, and you have no hope, that things can and will get better. We just don’t know the how or when, we just have to take one day at a time in the journey to get there.
But know that it will get better, we can all be stronger.
